Agent Profile Tips That Win Buyer Trust
Updated 3 November 2026 · Land & Property editorial team
A strong agent profile shows a real photo of you, the name on your National ID, the areas and property types you handle, the languages you speak, your WhatsApp link, your verified badge and honest listings. It avoids claims nobody can check, such as "licensed" (no agent licence exists yet) or "number one agent". Buyers trust profiles they can verify in a minute.
- Core profile fields
- Photo, name, areas, languages, WhatsApp link, listings, badges
- Words to avoid
- "Licensed" (no statutory agent licence as of Nov 2026), "number one", "100% genuine"
- Standard verification
- National ID (NIN) check plus live selfie
- Evidence on badges and enquiries
- No measured data yet; we do not claim an uplift
What should my agent profile say?
Say who you are, where you work and how to reach you, in plain words that a buyer can check. A good profile answers four questions in ten seconds: Is this a real person? Do they know my area? Can I reach them easily? Do they have real listings?
| Field | What to put | Why buyers care |
|---|---|---|
| Photo | A clear, recent photo of your face, not a logo or a house | Buyers meet you; a real face reduces fear of impostors |
| Name | The name on your National ID, plus your business name if you have one | Matches what you will show at a viewing |
| Areas | Two to five areas you truly work in, such as Gayaza, Kira or Entebbe | Shows local knowledge, helps search |
| Property types | Plots, farmland, houses, apartments, rentals | Matches the buyer's need |
| Languages | English, Luganda, Runyankore and others you speak well | Makes contact easier |
| Contact | Your WhatsApp link | Lets buyers message you first |
| Badges | Verified, title-checked listings, interview badge if you hold it | Shows what was checked |
| Short bio | Two or three factual lines | Gives a sense of how you work |
Fields like these help buyers compare agents in the Verified Agents Directory. See how we check the identity behind them on property agents in Uganda.
How do I write a bio buyers believe?
Keep it short, specific and checkable. Facts beat adjectives. Compare these two openings.
Weak: "The best and most trusted agent in Kampala, 100% genuine, guaranteed results."
Better: "I sell plots and houses in Gayaza, Kira and Namugongo. I always show the tenure and offer a title search before any deposit. I reply on WhatsApp the same day."
The second bio makes promises you can keep and a buyer can test. Include your years in the business only if you can show them, name the kinds of property you sell, and say what you will do for a buyer before money changes hands. Mention languages and working hours. Leave out religion, politics and anything unrelated to property.
Why must I avoid claims I cannot prove?
Because buyers have been burnt, and they read bold claims as warning signs. Ugandan property commentary lists fake agents, inspection-fee scams and listings that were sold or never existed among the common complaints (Nymynet). A profile that says "100% genuine" sounds just like the profiles of the people buyers fear.
- "Licensed agent". As of November 2026 we found no enacted national law that licenses estate agents. The Real Estate Bill is proposed, and the Lands Minister said in September 2026 that government is fast-tracking it (Daily Monitor). Do not claim a licence. See Is a Real Estate Agent Licence Required in Uganda?.
- "Number one" or "best". Nobody officially ranks agents, so the claim cannot be proved.
- "Clean title guaranteed". Only a search of the specific title can support a statement about it, and even then it is true only for the date of the search.
- Borrowed credentials or reviews. Never copy another agent's photos, badges or testimonials.
- Sold listings. Remove them the day they sell.
How do I scam-proof my profile and name?
Scammers copy good agents. They take photos and names and message buyers pretending to be you. Protect yourself and your buyers in three ways.
- Tell buyers where the real you is. Put your verified profile link in your WhatsApp Business description and on every listing you share. Tell buyers that you never ask for fees to a personal number before an inspection.
- Make it easy to check. Invite buyers to compare your name and phone with your verified directory profile, and to run the five-minute agent test on you.
- Report copycats. If someone uses your name or photos, tell your buyers and tell us through the contact page.
This is the same discipline as Getting Property Leads on WhatsApp Without Spam. Our verified standard uses a National ID (NIN) check and a live selfie so that the face on your profile matches your ID.
Do badges increase enquiries?
We do not know yet. We have not had agent-listed inventory long enough to measure it, and we found no independent Ugandan study. What we can say is that a badge shows buyers what was checked, which should reduce doubt. Another portal offers a "Verified sellers" filter and a "Verified ID" label on some listings, so buyers elsewhere are also being shown verification as a signal (Jiji.ug, November 2026). That shows that the signal exists, not how much it earns.
Our listings in November 2026 give one pointer on quality: of 93 published listings, 83 had a video and the median had 5 photos (Land & Property listings, Nov 2026). Profiles with listings of that standard will look credible beside them. We have not measured the effect on enquiries, so we do not promise one. What if I work in more than one country?
List the countries and areas separately and keep each claim honest. Kenya has its own registration system for estate agents, so a Kenyan profile should show the registration the Estate Agents Registration Board holds, where it applies (Citizen Digital). Read become a verified real estate agent Kenya for that route. Also see our agent onboarding page for the steps to set up a profile.

Frequently asked questions
What should my agent profile say?
A clear photo, the name on your National ID, the areas and property types you handle, languages, your WhatsApp link, your badges and a short factual bio. Keep every claim checkable and leave out titles you cannot prove, such as licensed or number one.
Do badges increase enquiries?
We have no measured data yet, so we do not promise it. A badge shows buyers what was checked, such as National ID and a live selfie, which should reduce doubt. Other portals also offer verified-seller filters, so buyers are used to the signal.
Can I say I am a licensed agent?
No. As of November 2026 we found no enacted national law that issues a licence to estate agents. The Real Estate Bill is only proposed. Say instead that you are verified, and describe what was checked.
How do I stop someone copying my profile?
Put your verified profile link in your WhatsApp Business description and on every listing, tell buyers you never ask for fees to a personal number before inspection, invite them to check you in the directory, and report copycats to us promptly.
